The Coaches’ Corner provides insight from college coaches on various topics that can help benefit high school players. While personal opinions vary, we enjoy sharing the various perspectives so that players have more clear advice when dealing with various issues. We extend the opportunity for coaches to share their personal opinions on our platform to help our players grow in the game that we all love.
Coach Placeres (Maryville College)
Most players/teams/coaches/parents need to temper their expectations. It's harder than ever for high school prospects to be prioritized. Be open to all schools and try to obtain a realistic sense of where you can actually play. If a college or coach doesn't have a proven history of success with the type of player that you are, that place probably isn't the best choice for you. Stay patient & don't play the comparison game. Everyone's recruitment has a different speed & timeline. If you start pressing and forcing things, it usually doesn't go well and just makes you look worse in the eyes of college coaches.
